500 years in the future, exasperated women used CRISPR gene-editing technology in a global effort to augment their bodies with biomimetic defenses inspired by deep-sea creatures. Armed with these adaptations, they culled a majority of men from society. The remaining males— those who respect women, aren't attracted to them, or accept female sovereignty— live in a reshaped civilization where deadly traits have restored the natural order of female dominance.
